BOARDGAME VAASA SQUARE 1930-1950
The game is the result of an art project I worked with in 2010-2011. In the first part of the project, I studied the history of the Vaasa square, looked for pictures in different archives, and arranged meetings and interviews with 100 elderly people. The game is based on the interviews, and also includes a small book where you can read the stories.
The information was developed into a boardgame with game designer Anders Olin and graphic designer Magnus Lindström. The purpose of the game has been to enable inter-generational meetings, which are based on the memories of elderly people, and allow users to study local history in a playful way. The game is in Swedish and Finnish.
Looking back on sharing the participants' memories, I remember this time as living in the past and being transported to a different time.
